After writing songs for The Beach Boys and producing albums for The Byrds, Gary Usher went into the studio to start his own project, Sagittarius. During the process Curt Boettcher of the group The Millennium became an integral part of the sessions, producing two songs and writing seven. The men also got the help of prominent figures such as Bruce Johnston (The Beach Boys) and Glen Campbell, making it a very unique and beloved studio album. The single “The World Fell Down” was the most successful, reaching the lower regions of the Billboard Hot 100.
All of this led to the album becoming a real cult classic. Fans still see it as one of the essential albums of the 1960s Los Angeles music scene and was also included on the iconic 1972 compilation album Nuggets. Original vinyl copies are becoming very scarce and highly collectable, and that's why Music On Vinyl is re-issuing this gem of late 1960s chamber pop.
Present Tense is a limited edition of 1000 individually numbered copies on orange vinyl.
